Abstract

The Bahamas Vireo (Vireo crassirostris) is endemic to some Caribbean islands. In Cuba it is known from a few keys in the north of the island and the Cuban population is considered Vulnerable to extinction. In this work it is registered for the first time in the Hicacos Peninsula, Matanzas province. This locality represents the westernmost locality where the species has been observed in Cuba and the second for the main island of the Cuban archipelago. The sighting occurred in a narrow strip of dune vegetation with small patches of coastal xeromorph scrub.
