The journal Acta Botánica Cubana (Acta Botánica Cubana), directed by the Institute of Ecology and Systematics, based in Havana, was founded in 1980 by the former Institute of Botany of the Cuban Academy of Sciences. More than 300 articles on relevant results from the Cuban and international scientific community have been published in the journal.

Acta Botánica Cubana is open access and is available electronically for the publication of scientific works in the fields of Botany and Mycology. Starting in 2021, the journal switched to a continuous publication system with a single volume per year and a maximum of 20 articles. The continuous publication system allows articles to be published online individually once approved by the Editorial Board. The official language of the journal is Spanish, but contributions in English are also welcome on topics related to: Systematics, Flora and Vegetation, Phytogeography, Ecology, Biodiversity, Ecophysiology, Phytochemistry, Ethnobotany, Agroecology, and Mycology.
